The Idea

Initially, I had a hard time coming up with an idea that I was happy with. I had spent a while over winter break debating how I wanted to approach it. All the stories I came up with didn't seem like the kind of art I wanted to create.
Luckily for me, I didn't have to wait long. Nearly 10 minutes into a class discussion of our professor asking us our ideas, I had a mental picture of exactly what I was going to set out to make. I visualized a dark room, abandoned with objects carelessly flung all over the place and the house in disarray. The main character, a small glowing light barely the size of a human hand, exploring this dark room filled with mysterious lamps all shapes and sizes.
Although I had a long way to go in the pre-production process, my idea was starting to come into focus. Below are initial concept sketches of the design I had in mind.
